The Danone controversy raises questions about the meaning of CSR

According to Prof. Jean-Marc Daniel, the toppling of former Danone CEO Emmanuel Faber illustrates the limitations of certain ideological assumptions, which attempt to present businesses as something they are not: A company’s true mission is to be productive, and the best way of remaining societally engaged is to let free competition fulfil its regulating role.
